About Dankworth Pond State Park
Dankworth Pond State Park is located right down the road from the more popular Roper Lake State Park. This smaller park unit gives visitors big surprises by way of area wildlife and fishing opportunities. Dankworth is a very popular southern Arizona birding destination and a large variety of migratory birds spend their winters soaking up the Arizona sun here. Desert mule deer, javelina, raccoons, foxes, and a whole bunch of other desert wildlife can be seen within this small park as well.
Dankworth pond is a popular fishing destination for locals, and other "in the know" anglers. Rainbow trout are stocked here throughout the winter and spring which gives visitors a great opportunity of catching a delicious dinner! Dankworth is more popular as a bass lake and holds some really large specimens in spite of the relatively small size of the pond. The largemouth bass feast on stocked rainbow trout and put on weight very quickly!
Next time you're visiting Roper Lake, take a short trip down the road to Dankworth Ponds State Park and be inspired as the desert comes alive around you.
